Baby As You Turn Away

Album: Bee Gees, Main Course (1975)
Instruments: Acoustic Guitar, drum, strings
Style: (slow) Pop
Features: Harmony
Duration: 4:23
Modern Discovery: April 2006

So I just picked up this album Saturday before last. It's got the standard ones we've heard: Nights on Broadway, Jive Talkin', Fanny (Be Tender with my Love). I'm really liking Songbird,
Wind of Change, and this song, Baby As You Turn Away. The other songs on the album I haven't listened to much yet.

This song just really hits the spot. It's just a little extreme on a few ends, but
that's expected with the usual sentimental "love song."

Baby, this is just your way..

I dig it.

Here, am I
one sad and lonely guy
one shadow of the man I used to be

Now, it's past
the love I thought would last
You thought I had you chained and now you're free

I know it's wrong
but I'm still holdin' on
Still praying you will soon come back to me

But then you go
you let your feelings show
You said I gave you pain, and now I see

"Now I see" 'I was blind but now I see' [step into freedom]

Baby as you turn away
I will always think of what we had together
Baby this is just your way..
of breaking my heart

I love this part. Although "always think of what we had together" is kinda funny :p

"whadd arrrr ya gunna duuu?" "what are you waiting for?" [step into freedom]
And it's easier to say goodbye
making me fall, making me try
try to make you stay
as you turn away

Now you're gone
this road I walk upon
is just another place where I can hide

I'm still your man
as proof of who I am
except without your love.. I'm dead inside

"I'm dead inside"? no no I don't think so :-p

Baby as you turn away
I will always think of what we had together
Baby this is just your way..
of breaking my heart

Just your way.

And it's easier to say goodbye
making me fall, watching me try
try to make you stay
as you turn away

Baby as you turn away
I will always think of what we had together
Baby this is just your way..
of breaking my heart

And it's easier to say goodbye
making me fall, watching me try
try to make you stay
as you turn away
baby as you turn... away
la la la ooo ooo

And now in this season, you can invite everyone, especially those who might invite you to incite you, you can tell them to

Step into Freedom.

A Lot to Catch Up On

There's a lot to catch up on.

**A few Lenten reflections I want to touch upon before Easter Sunday approaches.

Holy Week is this week.

Passion (Palm) Sunday
Holy Thursday
Good Friday
Holy Saturday
Easter Sunday

**Still need to overview the lessons learned from the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress trip with fellow Newman Center Community Members.

**Two amazing episodes of Twenty Four (24) have gone by. :-p

**Tijuana Housebuilding Trip 2006 has just started ramping up, here we go! Time to fundraise. I need to raise at least Seventy Five (75) dollars. Let me know if you can help (please, yeah begging). I may set up a paypal way for you to donate (donar). :)

Here's the TJ spiel (from me last year) that Kathy pointed out to me from a googling (haha, little did I realize it'd all be found in a search)
Tijuana Housebuilding was the weekend before last, the 13-15th of May. It's hard to convey what we experienced there, but it's something that if only all of us could see, then we'd have a greater awareness of life outside the bubble. For now, I'll sum it up by saying that we weren't there to give them a house, we were just there to assist in the acceleration of their construction. We weren't just helping with a house, a home --- we were helping build community, since if one day, volunteers stopped coming, they would have the community and structure through Esperanza to continue building their community up, building for a better Mexico,-- rather than having to risk their lives crossing the border. (Oh, and flops to that minuteman project, heh) It is a different country over there, just about 45 minutes away from La Jolla, San Diego and the disparity of wealth is surprising. Regardless, when you interact with them, eat with them, work with them, you find that they are the same, they are like family, and that's why I've been going the past 3 years.

Anyway, it's late --time to crash.

My Brave Face

I've been living in style
unaccostumed as I am

Now I don't have to tell anybody when I'm gonna get back

Ever since you went away I've had this sentimental inclination not to change a single thing /
as I pull the sheet back on the bed I'm gonna go bury my head.. in your pillow

Ever since you left I've been trying to compose a "baby will you please come home" note meant for you /
As I put away another untouched TV dinner at the table.. outlaid for twoo

Where I can't find my brave face
My Brave Face.

So we're all back safe and sound.

There's a lot to say, a lot to tell, but it'll have to wait for another time :-p/
